Product Overview:
Shoe Tacks (also known as Cobbler Tacks) are precision-engineered fasteners specifically designed for the footwear manufacturing and repair industry. Featuring a sharp, needle-like point and a flat, reinforced head, they are primarily used to secure outsoles, heels, and uppers to the last during the lasting process. These tacks are designed to clinch perfectly when they strike the metal plate of the last, ensuring a permanent and secure bond.
Manufacturing & Technology:
Material Selection: Fabricated from high-carbon steel or specialized brass wire to provide the necessary rigidity and prevent bending during high-speed manual or machine driving.
Sharp Point Precision: Utilizing advanced rotary cutting technology to ensure every tack has a consistent, razor-sharp point for effortless penetration of thick leather and synthetic materials.
Blueing / Sterilization Process: Many of our steel tacks undergo a "blueing" thermal treatment. This creates an oxide layer that provides temporary rust resistance and acts as a traditional sterilization method for cobblers who hold tacks in their mouths.
Clinch Engineering: The metallurgy is fine-tuned to allow the tip to curl back (clinch) upon impact with an iron anvil or last plate without snapping.
Technical Parameters:
Material: High-carbon steel, Brass, or Blue-tempered steel.
Length: 1/4" to 1" (6{mm} - 25{mm}).
Head Type: Flat, thin, or countersunk.
Shank: Smooth or serrated for increased withdrawal resistance.
