RIB LATH Product Profile
1. Product Overview
Rib Lath, also known as stiffened expanded metal lath, is a versatile metal plaster base stiffened by longitudinal ribs. It is manufactured by punching and expanding galvanized steel or stainless steel sheets. The V-shaped ribs provide exceptional longitudinal rigidity, making it an ideal choice for large-span plastering, concrete formwork, and ceiling installations. Its unique mesh opening allows for excellent bonding with plaster or concrete, significantly reducing the risk of cracking.
2. Manufacturing & Craftsmanship
Our Rib Lath is produced through a continuous high-precision cold-rolling and expanding process:
Precision Perforating: The steel coil is fed into a CNC machine that creates staggered slits while simultaneously forming the deep V-ribs.
Expansion Process: The sheet is stretched to create the diamond-shaped mesh openings between the ribs. This process increases the surface area without increasing the weight.
Cold-Formed Ribs: The ribs are cold-rolled to a specific height (typically 4mm to 10mm) to ensure maximum structural stiffness.
Material Selection: Primary use of G60 or G90 hot-dipped galvanized steel ensures superior alkaline and corrosion resistance during the curing of wet materials.
3. Technical Advantages
Superior Rigidity: The "V" ribs allow the lath to be used on wider spacing for studs or joists compared to flat lath.
Enhanced Bonding: The mesh pattern provides a "key" for plaster or mortar, creating a mechanical bond that prevents sliding or delamination.
Crack Control: It distributes stress evenly across the surface, effectively controlling shrinkage cracks in concrete or stucco.
Time & Labor Saving: Its lightweight nature and ease of cutting/bending facilitate rapid onsite installation.
