1. Product Overview
Gabion Baskets are heavy-duty rectangular wire mesh containers engineered from double-twisted hexagonal steel wire mesh. Widely used in civil engineering, erosion control, and hydraulic projects, they are filled with cobbles or crushed stones to create flexible, permeable, and monolithic structures. Their inherent flexibility allows them to withstand soil movement and high-velocity water flow without structural failure.
2. Manufacturing & Craftsmanship
Our Gabion Baskets are manufactured following strict international standards (such as ASTM or EN) to ensure structural safety:
Double-Twist Weaving: The wire is twisted $360^\circ$ for three full turns (the "double-twist" method). This prevents the mesh from unravelling if a single wire is cut or broken.
Selvedge Reinforcement: All mesh edges are reinforced with a thicker selvedge wire to enhance the overall mechanical strength and facilitate assembly.
Corrosion Protection: We offer multiple coating options:
Hot-Dipped Galvanized: Heavy zinc coating for standard environments.
Galfan Coating: Zinc-Aluminum alloy ($Zn-5\%Al-MM$) for $3-4$ times the life of standard galvanization.
PVC/PE Coating: An additional polymer layer for use in marine or chemically aggressive environments.
3. Technical Characteristics
Flexibility (Ductility): Unlike rigid concrete, the double-twisted mesh accommodates differential settlement and soil shifts.
Permeability: The stone fill allows natural water drainage, eliminating the need for drainage pipes and reducing hydrostatic pressure.
Ecological Integration: Over time, silt and soil fill the gaps between stones, promoting natural vegetation growth and blending the structure into the environment.
Durability: The high-tensile wire and advanced coatings provide a design life of up to 50–100 years.
